A Q&A interview with Seonghwa published by CanCam to introduce ATEEZ ahead of their first Japanese album, "Into the A to Z," including behind-the-scenes cuts and a hand-drawn illustration. Published April 3, 2021 — Seonghwa's birthday.
Seonghwa's Words — Translated Highlights
Introducing himself for his first CanCam feature, Seonghwa described his hobbies as cleaning and collecting figures, said he was communicating with ATINY through the fan app at the time, and mentioned he'd recently gotten into pasta. He said he prefers natural, individual scents over any one signature fragrance, and that he listens to ASMR before falling asleep. Asked about a musical influence, he named SHINee, saying he learned a great deal watching their stage performances. He also mentioned recently buying new practice shoes after wearing the same pair since his training days in the U.S.
Asked what he wanted to do on his next trip to Japan, he said he'd like to eat dango with cold green tea after visiting an onsen. A fan comment that stuck with him was being told "I love you more than yesterday," which he said made him very happy. Recording in Japanese again after a while felt nerve-wracking knowing ATINY would be listening, but he said his regular Japanese study helped him connect with the songs emotionally. Asked when he feels most connected to ATINY, he pointed to the warmth and encouragement fans keep offering even when they can't meet in person. Asked to illustrate which animal he'd want to be reincarnated as, he drew a cat, saying he'd like to stretch and take things slow the way cats do.
